It’s official: Google does not use keyword metatags at all

Google has come out with an official response to all search engine optimization guys out there.

The company has clarified that as of now they do not take into consideration the keyword metatags of a website for ranking purposes.

Google however clarified that their Google Search Appliance does use this parameter for ranking but that is limited to a company’s internal server.

In simple terms, if you are aiming for ranks in Google, you can totally ignore the keywords metatag from now on!

The company said that they started ignoring this metatag several years ago after it was massively abused by web publishers.
