KDDI showcases a fuel cell powered Toshiba T002 smartphone
Japanese mobile service provider KDDI has displayed a fuel cell powered smartphone at the Ceatec show in Japan.
The company displayed a modified edition of Toshiba T002 handset which is powered with a direct methanol fuel cell.
KDDI did not reveal whether they aim to start selling such devices in the market in the near future.
Fuel cells are more environment friendly compared to regular batteries. They are also more efficient.
The prototype device also however featured a supplementary lithium ion battery.
