AT&T says their network is ready for VoIP applications on iPhone

Good news for the iPhone users in the US market.

AT&T has announced that they are now prepared with their network to handle VoIP applications on mobile devices including the Apple iPhone.

The company said that Apple can now allow VoIP applications to use their cellular 3G network for their functionality.

Till now, Apple had restricted such applications to just the Wi-Fi network.

It remains to be seen if the flexibilities are wide enough to enable Apple to allow Google Voice service on the Apple iPhone. Google Voice is not directly connected to VoIP but a lot of experts believed that AT&T was the primary reason for it not appearing on the Apple App Store.
