Comcast to warn customers about botnets through pop-ups!

Comcast has announced that they are going to test a new program that would generate alerts on their customer’s computer screen about botnets if they believe their systems are infected with malware.

These alerts would appear as pop-ups on their screen. They would be advised to visit the Comcast Anti-Virus Center.

Users would be able to ignore these messages but they cannot be disabled unless the customer take some action to clean their infected systems.

The company said that they would decide if the customer’s system is infected by monitoring how much data the machine is downloading and receiving.

Comcast added that they would use some parameters to make sure that the customers are not sent false warnings if the traffic generation is legitimate.

However, as Comcast critics would argue… They are going to cause nuisance for a lot of their customers.
