Finland makes broadband internet a legal right!
Finland has perhaps become the first country in the world to make internet access a legal right.
Finland Ministry of Transport and Communications is behind a new law that would make it mandatory for the broadband service providers in the country to offer high speed internet connections to all the people in the country.
This would come into effect from July next year. The minimum speed set is 1mbps.
The long term aim is to make available 100Mb internet access to all citizens by 2015.
Internet access is increasingly being considered as an essential commodity in developed nations. We are hoping for similar regulations in more countries in the coming years.
