Google Custom Search now has a mobile interface
Google has announced that they are now supporting several mobile platforms to serve a customized user interface for their custom search engine service.
The company said that this new mobile feature is compatible with web browsers on Google Android, Apple iPhone, Apple iPod Touch and Palm Pre.
Instead of seeing the regular version of the search result page, users would see a version specifically designed for their mobile browser.
The aim is to make it easier for the user to go through the search results.
Google added in a blog posting:
When they search on your web site, they are redirected to a Google-hosted Custom Search results page created specifically for your Custom Search engine. If you’d like to serve these mobile results from your own web site, you can host your own version of the mobile Custom Search home page.
