AT&T admits they can lose Apple iPhone exclusivity in USA

Ralph de la Vega, president and CEO of the wireless unit of AT&T has admitted that the company could lose the exclusive rights to sell the Apple iPhone in US market in the coming years.

However, he assured that the company would not be in trouble if the situation arises.

The company said that they had its best-ever third-quarter wireless subscriber gain. They gained around 2 million subscribers in the period.

AT&T added that during the period they registered 3.2 million iPhone activations. Around 40% of these customers were new to their network.

Vega said: “We know (growth is) going to continue after the iPhone is no longer exclusive to us. And we think that we’ll be able to continue with our growth with the iPhone and with other products that we think will be very attractive to customers.”

Industry rumors are claiming that Apple is testing a 4G edition of iPhone with a rival service provider.
