University of California Berkeley to lead attempts to keep data safe

Data theft is becoming a national issue in America. Cyber Crime is growing with more and more news of hacking attempts coming in on a daily routine. This has made it important for the government to take some concrete steps to ensure that the entire nation’s sensitive computer data is safe from such external attempts of hacking and make sure it remains in safe hands.

This has led to a group of colleges to come together and form a group under the guidance of University of California Berkeley experts. They call this initiative TRUST which stands for Team for Research in Ubiquitous Secure Technology. Their budget for the next five years is around USD 19 millions.

Their goal for now is to develop technologies that would help companies and organizations secure their confidential data by building secure information systems. Some of the recent breaches of security in the America were at U.C. Berkeley itself and they have since then working hard on highlighting the issues of data theft in today’s times.

Stanford, San Jose State University, and Mills College are supporting them in this initiative.
