Google now use RSS/Atom feeds for discovering new sites

Google has some good news for web publishers.

Google Webmaster Central team has revealed that they are now using RSS and Atom feeds to discover new content on the web.

This means that if your brand new site has a RSS feed associated with it, there is a good chance that your content would be indexed pretty soon.

Publishers usually had to rely on existing sites to link to the new domains to get them indexed by Google.

Getting the RSS feeds indexed is easier as you can start publicizing them by pinging them through sites like Ping-O-Matic.

Even adding them to Google Reader would make it easier for Google to pick that content.
