Symantec warns about Trojan.Ramvicrype
Security software company Symantec has warned about a new Trojan Horse named Trojan.Ramvicrype.
Trojan.Ramvicrype is unusual in a way that it encrypts data files on the victim’s machine but does not ask the user to visit a site to get the solution to decrypt the data. It does rename the files with a new ‘vicrypt’ extension.
The company said in a blog post that searching for vicrypt pointed them to a new company which has a fix available for a price.
Symantec has made available a tool which can be used to fix this problem if their antivirus solution was unable to solve the problem for them.
