Google might have acquired Gizmo5
Industry sources are hinting that the search engine giant Google might have acquired VoIP company Gizmo5.
Ebay was said to be interested in this company previously but their deal with the Skype founders meant that the need to acquire Gizmo5 is no longer there.
Ebay needed Gizmo5 in case they had to change the back-end technology powering Skype which was under dispute.
It remains to be seen what Google might do with Gizmo5. They might use it to expand the services provided by Google Talk and other services.
Gizmo5 could also become an important aspect of their Google Voice service.
This acquisition deal is yet to be confirmed however.
