Early universe may have been a hot, dense liquid
Scientists on Monday reported at a meeting of the American Physical Society held in Tampa, Florida that the new results from a particle collider suggest the early universe was briefly like a hot, dense liquid made out of basic atomic particles. This report revised the belief of physicists that fiery gas existed microseconds after the “big bang” birth of the universe.
The researchers in their experiments found that the quarks behaved like a “perfect liquid” instead of flying around freely like a gas as they expected. They created a quark-gluon plasma in their study, which was produced in the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider, known as RHIC. This perfect liquid maybe has the lowest possible viscosity.
These findings have been linked to a branch of mathematical physics known as string theory, which attempts to explain properties of the universe using 10 dimensions. “There are a lot of exciting questions,” said Sam Aronson, associate director for high energy and nuclear physics at Brookhaven National Laboratory, which is located on Long Island about 65 miles east of New York city. “The matter that we’ve formed behaves like a very nearly perfect liquid,” Aronson said.

I’m not a geek or a scientist and I already knew that. “the earth was without form and void and darkness was on the face of the DEEP and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the WATERS” GEN 1:2

A quark-gluon plasma is not water. And didn’t Genesis say that the earth was made first, before the water?

I lost all respect for Genesis after Peter Gabriel left.

quoting the bible during a scientific discussion just goes to show how much in the dark ages we still really are. sigh :( on what day does the bible say god created child molesting preists?

And you are backing up your apparent dislike for inappropriate comments by accusing the Bible for the acts of pedophiles?

yes!

wow ! these comments sure are out there… So this news really doesn’t change much in either camps. I’m just waiting for the aliens to make contact then you’ll all be sorry. ~

Genesis 1:1 says that “In the beginning God created the heavens….” and this speaks of Universal creation. Then after undisclosed eons of time Jehovah turned his attention to preparing the primal Earth for the various life forms he would put here. Therefore there is an unidentified period or time between Genesis 1:1 and the following verses which speak specifically of preparing the Earth for life. It is evident that the Earth was formed perhaps billions of years after the first act of Creation (the Big Bang?) as were billions of other physical bodies and galaxies. The Bible then, does not conflict with scientific knowledge as we now understand it in the creation account. It was, after all, written to be understood by ancient people who was not privy to our enlightened age. How else could you explain creation to someone who knew very little about the Universe back then?

Hey guys, don’t let the religious nutters bait you. They are inane and ultimately inconsequential… unless of course they make us extinct via nuclear annihilation. Darn.

Those who wish to learn about creationism vs. nature should read http://books.nap.edu/html/creationism/
This is by the National Academy of Sciences and is titled “Science and Creationism.”

Who created me?

So your explaination is that the Bible is inaccurate because it was only intended for a limited audience? If it’s the infallible word of God, then why isn’t it just the straight story? God obviously would know that we’d eventually figure it out, why make a story that confuses people?
If we’re going to appply known scientific facts to this creation story, can you explain to me how the earth (second day) and even plants (third day) were made before the sun and moon (fourth day)?

The bible does conflict with itself however. There are actually two creation stories in Genesis.

What this guark gluon liquid really shows is that the interior of an atomic nucleus is really just a bag of quarks which only become segregated into nucleons and other clusters upon removal!

Your all Wrong!!! The Earth was created by a snake which is sitting apon an elephant which stands apon a giant tortoise! Thats all there is.
