What this guark gluon liquid really shows is that the interior of an atomic nucleus is really just a bag of quarks which only become segregated into nucleons and other clusters upon removal!

The bible does conflict with itself however. There are actually two creation stories in Genesis.

How else could you explain creation to someone who knew very little about the Universe back then?

So your explaination is that the Bible is inaccurate because it was only intended for a limited audience? If it's the infallible word of God, then why isn't it just the straight story? God obviously would know that we'd eventually figure it out, why make a story that confuses people?

If we're going to appply known scientific facts to this creation story, can you explain to me how the earth (second day) and even plants (third day) were made before the sun and moon (fourth day)?

Those who wish to learn about creationism vs. nature should read http://books.nap.edu/html/creationism/
This is by the National Academy of Sciences and is titled "Science and Creationism."

Hey guys, don't let the religious nutters bait you. They are inane and ultimately inconsequential... unless of course they make us extinct via nuclear annihilation. Darn.

Genesis 1:1 says that "In the beginning God created the heavens...." and this speaks of Universal creation. Then after undisclosed eons of time Jehovah turned his attention to preparing the primal Earth for the various life forms he would put here. Therefore there is an unidentified period or time between Genesis 1:1 and the following verses which speak specifically of preparing the Earth for life. It is evident that the Earth was formed perhaps billions of years after the first act of Creation (the Big Bang?) as were billions of other physical bodies and galaxies. The Bible then, does not conflict with scientific knowledge as we now understand it in the creation account. It was, after all, written to be understood by ancient people who was not privy to our enlightened age. How else could you explain creation to someone who knew very little about the Universe back then?
