Microsoft’s Live Communications Server to go Mobile
Microsoft is taking its Business Instant Messaging solutions mobile. The latest news in is that access to their Live Communications Server will be available on mobile devices later this year. The users of Microsoft’s Live Communications Server would soon be able to access this platform using the various handheld devices, which are a rage in the market these days.
The company announced their plans to go mobile with their business IM solutions and is going to develop a client front end to LCS. It is expected to enter a beta testing stage sometime later this year. It would be based on the Microsoft’s own Windows Mobile Operating System and the front end would use the concepts of LCS’ new PC-based client, Microsoft Office Communicator 2005.
Microsoft aims to provide a seamless experience of instant messaging with this concept from the mobile devices. A senior representative, David Sokolic said in a statement: “With the new Windows Mobile client, we’re providing instant messaging and presence to wireless users and creating a user experience that is reminiscent of what we have on the desktop.â€
It would be a boon for the users of this enterprise application who travel a lot and would still like to stay connected to their base offices through their mobile devices. The company expects to develop it for a variety of platforms and would also let third party developers to provide value add-ons.
