Update:

Hello, I just wanted to respond to your story about apple seizing the domain names. I’m Daniel, who owned them. I initially bought MacbookPro.com as I was reading about the domain business (being fairly naive at the time) I never received any cease or desist letter from Apple, so thinking they are a cool company, I picked up a few more names along the way. I was never redirecting traffic to Apple’s competitors. On a few, I built simple affiliate websites selling new and used apple products from ebay (the rest were just domain name parked pages also selling apple products). The recession has really hurt my family and I financially, many times relying on help from my parents or my inlaws. I have reached, what you can call a mid life crisis, and I have decided to go back to my first passion in life, music.

I have been out of the music business for a few years, now being 35, married and with 3 kids, I have decided to pursue my passion. I set out to record and sell 1 million records in one year. I’m documenting the process every step of the way on youtube. This week, I’m the 21 most subscribed musician. Feel free to tell my side of the story. Everything is not always about money.

Apple gain control over several domains from Daniel Bijan

TechCrunch is reporting on an interesting cyber-squatting related case connected to Apple.

Daniel Bijan lost out big time to Apple as the iPod maker managed to gain control over 16 of his domain names.

All of these domain names were related to Apple products. Apple has the trademark over the products that were connected to these domain names.

Apple won ownership of these domains through a complaint that was filed with UDRP  last year.

The hottest domain they gained from this complaint is definitely: macbookpro.com.

Here is the complete list:

blueipod.com, iphonecheap.com, iphonetoys.com, ipodaccessories.info, ipodkits.com, ipodsbaratos.com, macbookpro.biz, macbookpro.com, macbookpro.net, macbookpro.org, macfriend.com, redipods.com, macbook.us, macbookpro.us, macbooks.us, and macpro.us.

This latest case proves that it’s hard to gain from cybersquatting these days.
