Steve Jobs announces Apple iPad
As expected Apple announced their latest product named Apple iPad.
This device was long expected and a lot of speculation actually turned out to be true.
However, no one would have expected them to sell the lowest end model at just around USD 499!

The Apple iPad mostly feels like a larger Apple iPod Touch. It runs on an iPhone OS based platform and is compatible with the Apple App Store.
Steve Jobs said that the device is “so much more intimate than a laptop and so much more capable than a smart phone”.
Apple iPad features a 9.7-inch touch screen. It is around 0.5” thick. It weighs around 1.5 pounds. Apple is offering three versions: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. All of these editions can be bought with or without 3G. So there are six different versions already!
The device also has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support. Apple said that it can provide 10 hours of battery backup.
The price tag is the most interesting aspect… The base model is 16GB without 3G and it would sell for USD 499. 32GB model is for USD 599. 64GB model is for USD 699. 3G editions are around USD 130 more expensive.
Apple said that customers would have the option to get the 3G edition with AT&T powered connectivity. There are two plans:
USD 14.99 per month for 250MB data transfer (YUCK!)
USD 29.99 per month for unlimited data transfer (Whoa!)
These packages would be prepaid in nature with no contracts. AT&T would allow the users to connect to their Wi-Fi hotspots for free.
