Wal-Mart Custom CDs
The World’s Largest retailing store Wal-Mart is now going to offer its customers the capabilities to make their own custom CDs on the Internet. They have made available around 400,000 musical compositions on their website, which includes all sort of songs ranging from Pop Music to Rap and Classical to Country.
The custom list selected by the customers would be burnt on a CD and delivered to the customer as per the planned release. The customer can even select from a range of CD Covers and title for their own customized CD. Wal-Mart expects the delivery schedule to be between 3-4 days for the US based customers. They will be charging a basic fee of USD 5 for a customized CD containing three songs. Each additional song would cost the customer around 88 cents.
This might become an alternative of downloading music from the Internet, which let customers play songs on their digital music device. However, the delay in shipment and the lack of popularity of portable CD players might not make this offer a hot one. There are already many more players in the market offering similar services. They seem to be just filling in the gap.
