Microsoft posts healthy Profits

The world’s largest software company Microsoft posted a high quarterly profit and sales figure. The company said that the news was mostly due to the growing sales of Personal Computers and the Xbox gaming console, which the company develops. They have also reported a growing sales figure of their server software applications.

The Redmond based corporation reported a net profit figures of USD 2.56 billion. This comes to around 23 cents per share. The results are for the fiscal third quarter which ended on March 31. The figures are much higher than the results of the company last year when it reported a net profit of USD 1.32 billion which comes to around 12 cents a share. The company also reported a growing revenue figure of USD 9.6 Billion.

This year will see the company selling the 64-bit editions of their most popular Operating System till date, Windows XP. This would be followed by the highly anticipated Longhorn edition of their next generation Operating System. In addition, the next generation Xbox is also due for launch this year itself. The figures next year should well exceed the current ones and the company is looking at a profitable future.
