Suzuki Maruti Swift Launch on May 27
Automotive News April 29th, 2005
Suzuki Maruti Swift
The hottest car to hit the Indian shores this year Suzuki Swift would arrive on May 27. This was announced by the Maruti Udyog. The car is the company’s most important launch ever since the first car 800 arrived more than 2 decades ago. The launch shows how important Indian market is for the Japanese Motor Giant Suzuki that they have decided to launch a brand new vehicle in the market just a few months after the international launch.
Interestingly, the company has paired with the Yashraj Films camp, as it would be launched simultaneously to the release of the movie ‘Bunty Aur Bubli’ starring Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee. They have even got the moviemakers to place the hotly awaited hatch in the movie. This makes the combination even more attractive. For the first time, Maruti has gone in for such extensive promotion strategies.
However, neither the company nor the moviemakers are ready to release any information about the usage of the car in the movie. The unofficial word is: “It is like revealing the climax in a thriller. We have done our part. Wait and watch the film, which also features Amitabh Bachchan.†The company has also for the first time arranged a group of 1,000 youngsters who would be working for the company to promote the car in the youth. They would be working from the various dealerships of the company around India.

Suzuki Swift has till now been launched in Japan and recently in Europe. Suzuki is bringing in the model to India with a 1.3 Liter petrol engine would be competing it against the recently launched Hyundai Getz. Other potential targets are the Ford Fusion, Fiat Polio and of course the rather stale GM’s Sail.

About

Boss its gonna be a killer. Well, I KNOW. Just one advise go for the second level trim model and drive happy for life!! Spend that extra 50K INR and Bingo!! Simply put its gr8! Bubbly yet heavy and handling Oh my my! I once sweared on Hyundai but I am withdrawing them now!! The Ultimate ZEN - driver’s car that gives sperb backseat comforts!!
why do you call ZEN-the driver’s car. Have u driven it? What about the Santro or Wagon r? I agree SWIFT will b a killer…
i personally love to drive zen. its the most comfortable car in the small car category…
If the price of the Swift is right, I think WagonR and Santro are passe….the time has come for premium hatchbacks…India is evolvong…what does sushubh have to say??
i liked the car and want to buy it
dear sir kindy send us the tech. detail of the vehicle.
bhp. cc. milage of the vehicle.
Ya this is going to be the road king in the small segment car and infect i am keen to buy it but what about the price.? any how i am agree to buy this car range 4-4.5 Laks. bye bye
sir, send me the engine capacity and other tech specifications of the car.this wud do big in smallcar segment!
Oh, bad for maruti, they are probably pricing wrong…very trim version compared to Europe launch. The Lxi is bad it does not have anything. The next Vxi they do not have rear windows power…? If they price this more than 4.6 (Vxi) they are gone. Compare this with the lowest version of honda city (Exi) a bad comparision but just see the value city will offer. On road with music system, interest rate discount, insurance free in honda city the difference may be less than 1.5 lacs. (City comes with power windows, rear boot, great interiors). Maruti should get the price right else… gone…
they have done it again with swift, no power for rear windows, dumbest thing one could do to an international model….why cant they lauch it with fitments like the model launched in hungary n uk…..do they have somthing against india or what….why do they always strip the cars of the features that shud be standard on a A2 premium segment car…..and 4.5 is not the right price for Vxi, n 5.2 is sky high for Zxi, it shud hav been 4.8 for Zxi..
NEW DELHI: The soon-to-debut Suzuki Swift will sport a 1.3 litre gasoline engine, roll out in three variants and pack in some serious luxury features in the top-end model. The Swift will come in the base Lxi version, the mid-range Vxi and the top-end Zxi variants.
The base Lxi is likely to cost Rs 3.99-4.25 lakh range while the Vxi will straddle the Rs 4.25-4.5 lakh range. The top end Zxi will sport a Rs 4.75 lakh tag, say industry sources.
The Swift will come armed with more-than-normal bells and whistles in its top end variant. Like rival Getz it will pack in the power steering as a standard fitment in all three variants. Both the Lxi and Vxi will have manual air conditioning and heater.
The base model will also have front and rear fog lamps, wide tread 165/80 R14 steel wheel tyres and flared arches for better stability combined with side impact beams as well.
The mid-range Vxi will have front and rear electric windows, central locking for four doors, front and rear fog lamps and key-not-removed warning buzzer. The top-end Zxi will have all the Vxi features plus the automatic climate control system which is a feature unique to premium and luxury vehicles. It will also have rear window wiper and demister, dual front airbags, ABS and keyless entry.
The top-end variant will sport wider 185/70 R14 alloy tyres. The Swift, Suzukis first world car with European styling, was launched in Japan end 2004 and is currently being launched across Europe, followed by India and later China.

This million dollar question needs to be answered and answer depends on the price tag.
