Arm: Apple iPad would result in tons of copycats
Roy Chen, Arm’s worldwide mobile computing ODM manager has stated that the launch of Apple iPad would mean that rival companies would launch similar Tablet PCs in the market in the coming months.
He said that as many as 50 new products could be available in the market before the end of 2010.
Apple iPad was announced earlier this year and it would go on sale this month. Apple expects to start delivering it to customers from next month.
Chen said: “The first tablet devices will launch in the second quarter by carriers. You’ll see a lot more in the third quarter.”
HP and Dell have already display their own Tablet PC models. Acer, Asus and other companies are also said to be working on similar products.
Google Android is likely to be one platform that could become popular on Tablet PCs.
