Dual Core Processors are the future

AMD was the first one out of the block to display a working model and Intel became the first to deliver the goods. Both of these companies have now launched their versions of the dual-core processors and promise to shift the focus to them completely in the coming times. In fact, market analysts are now reporting that the roadmaps of these companies would mean that a majority of the processor units being shipped by 2007 would be dual-core designs.

This means that the processors in the coming times would be much more powerful and fortunately cooler and efficient than the current generation versions. Reports also suggests that the developers of the software applications should start focusing towards updating their existing applications to take benefit of this emerging technology so that the users can make use of the processing power of their computers.

Processor makers have started shifting to dual-core processors to avoid the technical snag they have hit with the current available technologies in the single core variants. They are consuming more power than ever and as a result as releasing more heat. Dual Core processors enhance the speeds without compromising on costing by much. They are cooler and are more efficient in releasing heat.

The approach of both AMD and Intel is different to make their Dual Core processors faster. While Intel is focusing towards large on-chip caches, AMD has a more efficient approach with direct memory interface and high-speed buses. Currently, the lack of applications means that the owners of these processors will not find much difference in the speeds of their software. Future is however quite bright.
