Yahoo! Video Search Out of Beta
Yahoo! got one-step ahead of Google as they managed to release the final version of their video search before the search engine giant Google did. Yahoo! Video Search is now available publicly in the final version. This is just one of the latest steps for Yahoo! to use other mediums to get people to their website and in the end, result in more revenues.
They launched the beta version of their video search sometime back in December last year and since then they were running it as a test to get user feedback. Along with launching this service in the final version, Yahoo! also enhanced the engine to index more content from new sources like CBS News, MTV, the Discovery Channel, and The Food Network.
They are not disclosing the amount of data available in their database though they are sure that the engine is the largest of its kind on the net indexing the videos available online. Online video search has become a rather interesting market ever since the broadband entered the common home. Hi-speed connections mean that downloading large videos is no longer a hassle and people want to get access to stuff available on the net.
Yahoo! is making available online movie previews, excerpts from previously broadcast television shows as well as original content on the search engine website: http://video.search.yahoo.com. Yahoo! would be hoping that the early bird advantage would help them beat Google at this particular genre of online searching. Google is also busy working on their own version of online video search since quiet sometime now.
