Nokia won’t be the first one to launch a Symbian^3 smartphone!
Lee Williams, executive director of Symbian Foundation has revealed that Nokia would not be the first company to launch a device powered by their Symbian^3 mobile platform.
The first device would be launched by a mobile phone maker based in Asia. The name of the company was not revealed.
Williams added: “Symbian 3 is almost completely mature. There is a small share of code which is pending checking by its contributors”.
He further stated that the foundation is on track to launch the next version sometime in 2011.
Symbian Foundation manages the open sourced edition of the Symbian mobile platform which was previously a locked platform owned by Nokia.
