Qwest Communications turning attention to VoIP Services

Vonage already rules the VoIP market in America. Now, it faces competition from the revamped services from the fourth-largest phone company in the United States, Qwest Communications. Quest is beginning to sell a USD 30 per month home Internet phone service which they will be promoting as OneFlex Premier.

The service will use VoIP technology enabling the consumers to use cheaply available broadband connectivity for their telephony requirements. However, the delayed entry into the VoIP market means that they have a lot of catching up to do. Services like Vonage are expanding their network pretty quickly and Quest would have to provide better services at lower prices to take away consumers from the competition.

Ironically, Quest was the first major player to offer VoIP based services in America way back in 2003. However, they had to slow down due to problems they suffered with scalability of the offered services. Now with all the problems resolved, they would be wanting to makeup for the lost time and get back to the frontline with services being offered in all the major destinations.

They are for now offering their services in 14-state territories from Wednesday.
