NASA delays Weather Satellite Launch
NASA has delayed launching a Weather Satellite into the space for the forth time. It was scheduled to be launched from the Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. However, a technical fault with the Delta II rocket, which was supposed to carry the satellite, meant that the launch had to be postponed.
NASA reported that they noticed a vent leak at the rocket’s second stage and the launch is now scheduled to take place on either may 19 or may 20. The representatives of the space organization were not available for comments on the delay.
The satellite is part of the project been working on monitoring the earth’s atmosphere. The original plan was to launch it on May 10 but got delayed 2 times due to strong surface winds. Another delay happened yesterday due to another electronic glitch with the ground-support equipment.
Looks like NASA is having a bad time with their equipment. If Space Shuttle was not enough, they are finding it hard to even launch smaller weather satellites.
