Google updates the location of their encrypted search engine
Google recently launched the encrypted edition of their search engine.
It was hosted at: https://google.com.
Google has now moved this search engine to a new location: https://encrypted.google.com
Google said that they decided to take this action on requests made by some school network operators who block encrypted searches on their network.
The company said:
The site functions in the same way. However, if school network administrators decide to block encrypted searches on https://encrypted.google.com, the blocking will no longer affect Google authenticated services like Google Apps for Education.
We are continuing to explore longer-term options such that we could return encrypted search to https://www.google.com without introducing issues with school content filters.
