Suzuki Swift arrives in Malaysia. India is next
Suzuki chairperson and chief executive Osamu Suzuki was present at the occasion as the company launched what they call their first world car in Malaysia. They have collaborated with DRB-Hicom to sell their new compact car Suzuki Swift in the competitive market of Malaysia. Suzuki Malaysia Automobile hopes to sell around 400 to 500 units per month in the country.
The company expects to start CKD assembly if the volume exceeds these numbers. Currently, the car is being manufactured in Japan, China, India, and Hungary. In the crucial market of India, the car goes on sale later this month under the Maruti Brand. The company is quite confident that the car would be successful in this market as DRB-Hicom Chairperson Saleh Sulong said that the automobile market in Malaysia was growing with demands for better models.
Malaysian Automobile Association recently forecasted 2.5 percent growth this year to a record half-million units. At the launch of the Suzuki Swift in Malaysia, Saleh spoke to the media: “In view of this positive market scenario and our Suzuki product range, we are in good stead to make an impact with our passenger cars as well as multi-purpose and sport-utility vehicles.â€
They have priced the car at a competitive 78,000-85,000 ringgit. And the next vehicle planned for the country is the new Suzuki APV vehicle.
