David Nagel resigns as CEO of PalmSource
The current president and the CEO of the PalmSource Company is resigning from his position. David Nagel would be replaced by company’s top sales representative, Patrick McVeigh and the senior vice president of worldwide licensing. He would function as the interim CEO of PalmSource.
However, Nagel would continue to work for the company on advisory basis. Jean-Louis Gassee, chairperson of the PalmSource board of directors spoke to the media about this news: “I want to thank Dave for playing an instrumental role in helping position PalmSource to be a major player in the worldwide mobile software market. We appreciate that Dave is staying on to ensure a smooth transition and wish him the best in his future ventures.”
However, the company has not commented on this move with the official word being that Nagel decided to step down and the board initiated a search to find a suitable replacement. The company happens to be currently the third biggest seller of PDA Operating System behind Microsoft and Research in Motion.
Nagel on his part tried to position the company in the Linux based market with PalmSource acquiring China MobileSoft Limited late last year. It now plans to create Linux based OS for the PDAs.
