Apple iTunes 10 launches with integrated social network Ping
Apple had their media event today and there were plenty of new launches.
Apple iTunes 10 is now available and it comes loaded with an integrated social networking platform named Ping.
Ping is largely aimed at the audience that is a heavy user of Apple iTunes. It is also aimed at music lovers.
You can follow your favorite musicians and bands. You can collaborate with your own friends and family. It is basically an integrated version of Facebook and Twitter catering to iTunes user base.
Ping is probably going to kill whatsoever is left of MySpace.
Facebook has already annihilated MySpace when it comes to social networking. And Ping would kill its music related features and services.
This is pretty huge considering Apple has a ready user base of more than 100 million users who use Apple iTunes actively to manage music on their iPods.
Apple iTunes incidentally also get a brand new logo. The company said that because CDs have become so irrelevant today, they decided to get rid of the previous logo that featured one.
