Rumors of talks with Intel raise Apple Stocks value
Yesterday, the famed Wall Street Journal reported that they have internal sources confirming that Apple was talking to the microprocessor giant Intel for a possible alliance for supplies of processors. This means, that Apple might be considering ditching IBM by starting to use Intel’s processors for their Macintosh range of computers.
The news not only made the analysts excited about the possibilities of this deal, it also lead to a rise in the share prices of Apple in the stock market by around 5%. WSJ cited two industry executives with knowledge of recent discussions between the two companies. However, this might also be a business tactic by the iPod maker to get IBM agree to some business proposals by pressurizing them.
Apple computers have historically been more expensive than the Wintel based personal computers. Some of the blame for this can be put on the limited resources IBM has to provide Apple with huge number of processors with better technological enhancements to compete with the computers manufactured by companies like Dell and HP etc.
Both the companies have however denied the rumors though the news was good enough to take the share prices of Apple to USD 39.76 up USD 2.21.
