Maruti Suzuki Swift arrives this week
Amazingly, the consumer is waiting for the launch of this car as they normally do for movie releases. Coincidently, the launch would be coinciding with the launch of the much-awaited movie from the Yash Raj Camp, Bunty Aur Babli. This week would see both these products coming out waiting for the public to embrace them.
Suzuki will be launching their world car Swift this week on the May 27. The product is aimed at consolidating the market position for the current leader as it see the threat from the Korean auto giant Hyundai and the internal competition in the form of Tata Motors. They own a majority share in the Maruti Company and are the largest manufacturer of automobiles in India.
Market analysts are quite sure that the latest product Swift from the Suzuki range would be a sure shot success if priced competitively. And it will help Maruti gain the market image it lacks for ultra modern cars. Maruti is generally perceived as a maker of budget cars with dull outlook. Swift is a major change in policy for the company as it arrives in the country just a few months after the global launch.
This latest model is expected to take Hyundai Getz heads on in the premium hatchback segment. In addition, it is also expected to affect sales of Fiat Palio (which is already not selling in big numbers) and Tata Indica. However, the company lacks a diesel option, which would somewhat limit the ultimate selling value of Swift. Maruti is not expected to launch any diesel variant for another 2 years, which gives the competition enough time to take advantage of this fact.
We at TechWhack will not be surprised if Hyundai introduces a CrDI Diesel variant of the Getz to nullify the Maruti’s advantage with Suzuki Swift.
