General Motors considering Chevrolet Aveo for the Indian market
GM has had an interesting ride in the Indian market. They came in through the Opel brand with the fantastic Astra. It was followed by Corsa and its variants. In the later days, the company found little volume so they introduced the famous Chevy brand in the form of Chevrolet Forrester. It was followed by Chevrolet Tavera and Optra and now the latest news in is that they might be considering bringing in the hatch and saloon versions of the Chevy Aveo to the Indian market!
A lot of it is based on their buying the Daewoo brand, which sold the awesome Matiz car in the Indian market. It gave GM access to many potential best selling vehicles to the American automotive giant which are optimized for the Asian markets. Indian auto magazines have reportedly received a lot of scoop shots of the Chevy Aveo being tested on the Indian roads and a 2006 launch is quite a possibility.
The car if launched in the Indian market should come powered by two different engine options in 1.4 liter and 1.6 liter. The company is expected to target the premium hatchback segment (Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Getz) with possible price range of 4.5 to 5 lakhs. The saloon version would be going against the Hyundai Accent and Ford Ikon and would probably replace the aging Opel Corsa. The Chevy badge would give it enough respectability for the Indian buyers to look over the alternative brands.

no no not a great car like it says. engine rumbles when goes over 60 miles p/h. great look but an imitation of dewoo matiz. comfort is ok but not suitable for long drive.
I dont know why all the people in india go for an american car? here in america actually no one wants to buy any american car. even americans trust cheap korian cars and best japanece cars. to be honest i want to tell you G.M is not a good car company any more. i would only buy TATA or japan built car.
