Toyota undecided on next factory location in United States

Japanese Auto Giant Toyota has stated that they are still not sure about a location in the North America for their next factory in the region. A statement from the company’s representatives said: “Details such as where to build the factory or what models to build have not been decided”.

Some reports in the media earlier reported that the company was building another factory in Canada, which would have been their seventh in North America. The company is thinking about manufacturing small cars in the region and plans to produce as many as 100,000 to 150,000 vehicles as early as 2008.

The report was first released by the Nihon Keizai newspaper though they did not reveal their source for the information. The unit would be helping the company to increase their production to about 2.5 million vehicles a year. They manufactured around 1.5 million units last year.

The company is expecting to increase their total production of cars to between 8.6 million and 8.7 million by that time. Only General Motors makes more vehicles than that in the world. The report from the company said that the Toyota was going to develop a new plant near an existing Canadian factory in Ontario.

We plan to purchase 50 to 100 Toyota 4 door Camrys in the near future. Please advise U.S. locations of factories where Camry models are produced. Please advise the percentage of U.S made components are incorporated into this model. This is important for financing of the purchase.
