Google eBooks launched today
Google has finally launched their much awaited ebook project.
There were reports that this service would be called Google Editions.
Instead, they have gone for the simpler branding Google eBooks.
The bookstore is named Google ebookstore.
This ebookstore is powered by web. Content is fetched inside the browser directly from the web. It is then stored locally for offline access.
Google spoke about the project:
Your ebooks will be stored within your Google account, which allows us to save your page positions and sync across all the devices as you continue reading.
Any device with a compatible web browse would be able to access your library of ebooks.
Google is although releasing mobile apps for popular platforms including Android and Apple iOS.
The company is working with as many as 35,000 publisher partners globally to bring you more than 300,000 books that are copyrighted.
The entire project is part of their Google Books project which is involved in indexing books and other text material stored in libraries around the world.
