AMD Senior VP blasts Intel’s Dual Core Processor offerings

The market experts have declared AMD as the processor to go for as they have performed better than Intel’s products in the early tests of Dual Core Processors. Their Athlon 64 X2 have generally outperformed the Intel Pentium D Processors in most of the benchmarks especially due to superior technology over its competitor.

Now, ever the company representatives are going all out to bash the competition for releasing products with inferior concepts, which literally defies the basic concepts of Dual Core processing. Henri Richard, senior vice president for worldwide sales and marketing, AMD has been reportedly quoted by the media saying: “Intel’s dual-core platform consists of two separate cores in individual dies packaged together using multi-chip packaging in a single chip, which is not a true dual-core solution.”

As per these opinion, a real dual core processor would be integrating two cores on a single die. Henri was basically commenting on questions asking whether AMD was also interested in going the Intel’s way of releasing complete kits for their processors, which included chipset and many other components like an integrated LAN, Sound, and Video Solutions.

His reply was that AMD is doing fairly good with their Chipset suppliers and there is no need for them to get involved in the business.

Do the design implementations matter to the end customer ? end customers are only interested in how useful, reliable & cost effective the product is for them. AMD should stop behaving like a R&D lab and start focussing on customers. They spend all their efforts of designing good new products but do not have execution focus of Intel.

All this my-chip-better-than-your-chip ballyhou is made moot with the impending release of triple core and quad core technology. AMD and Intel hope to unload their outdated dual core product line to recoup R&D costs while the products are still sellable. This high tech mud slinging is blatant marketing hype. We wait for triple core before invest.
