Yahoo! and Cisco to fight spam together
Spam mail continues to remain a major problem for the consumers and the corporate users worldwide. And many companies are working towards developing ways to identify spam and Phishing mails. One of these efforts has been from Yahoo!, which manages one of the biggest web mail services in the world Yahoo! Mail.
Now, they have decided to collaborate with the networking giant Cisco with their technologies called DomainKeys Identified Mail, or DKIM. This collaborated effort combines the powers of both Yahoo’s DomainKeys technology and Cisco’ Internet Identified Mail.
Yahoo! DomainKeys is a system that uses private encrypting keys to generate a digital signature, which is included in the e-mail’s header. The receiving party of the mail gets access to a public access key to verify the signature; the public access key, which was previously published in Domain Name System. Cisco have their own solutions in Internet Identified Mail.
They would be offering their mail solutions to companies, whose deals involve online transactions. Yahoo! has also confirmed that they would be developing more technologies and provide them to their customers.
