Maruti Suzuki Swift has a smashing entry in the Indian market

Maruti launched their latest model Suzuki Swift in the Indian market last month. Their was a lot of curiosity in the Indian customer’s mind on whether the model was worth the hype. The initial response seems impressive as Maruti seems to be enjoying the joy ride. If the beginning is to be believed, this might become the next big thing in the Indian auto market.

The car showed recorded 9,000 bookings even before it was launched. This grew to 15000 in a week’s time of launching the car. The response has led to the company advancing the delivery date of the vehicle by a week. And the car is already booked for at least 3 months time. If you are planning to buy one now, be prepared to wait for a long long time to get one!

Suzuki calls Swift their first world car. It comes with an unconventional shape, which is totally unlike Maruti in India. It features a 1.3-liter engine and has features in the higher end model, which are only available in cars in much higher segments. The company has sparked the consumer interest by pricing the base model at an impressive Rs. 3.87 lakh.

The prime competitor for Maruti Swift is Hyundai’s Getz though the base model of that car is a lot more expensive compared to Swift. Hyundai for the time being is not thinking about a revised price for their offering in Getz. However, market analysts predict that the low price of the car would result in consumer opting for it instead of the other models of Maruti, which are priced a bit lower. Maruti Zen and Maruti Wagon R are expected to get a hit in their sales figure.

Maruti seems to be unconcerned about this fact.
