Seattle is the most unwired city in United States
The northwest city of United States, Seattle has been declared in a survey as the most unwired city in the country. In other words, Seattle has been found to have more places for its residents to connect to the Internet via wireless, or Wi-Fi, hot spots compared to any other city in the United States.
The research was done by the microprocessor giant Intel which is diving deeply into the wireless market with their newer chips for WiMax. The city is the hometown of the mega corporation Starbucks and is also closer to the hometown of Microsoft (Redmond).
Seattle was closely followed by San Francisco’s metropolitan area, Austin (Texas), Portland (Oregon) and Toledo (Ohio). The survey took into consideration the number of access points at commercial, pubic, airport, and other locations among the top 100 metropolitan areas in the United States.
In related news, United Airlines announced today that they have got the approval from the agencies to start offering Wi-Fi based wireless Internet services in their B757-200 aircraft. They plan to get all of their aircrafts approved in the future.
