Lenovo to Launch ThinkPad X41 Tablet PC
Lenovo recently acquired the PC division of the tech giant IBM. And the latest news from their stables is that they would soon be launching a tablet PC to their Think line range of computing solutions. The announcement was made on Monday and the model is codenamed ThinkPad X41 Tablet.
It would be a convertible machine, which would come with both a full-size keyboard and a writable slate. It is expected to weigh around 3.5 pounds. As per company’s claims, this is 20% lighter than any other competing product in its category.
ThinkPad X41 Tablet would be running on an Intel Pentium M processor. The two variants Low Volt or Ultra Low Volt processor would be providing 4-8 hours of battery life. The installed kit would include an Intel 915GM chipset, which can pack up to 1.5GB of PC2-4200 DDR2 memory. Also in would be an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 card.
IBM also had tried to enter into the same market way back in 1993 and as expected the then launched ThinkPad convertible was a massive failure. Now, many companies like Toshiba, Gateway, and HP have similar products in their range of offerings for the consumers. Microsoft itself has launched a special variant of their Operating System Windows XP Tablet PC Edition designed for these appliances.
