Ford’s upcoming plans for Indian market
Ford has had a bumpy ride in the Indian auto market. They came to India with a rather old product in Ford Escort. And later realized their mistake to fix it up with the awesome Ford Ikon. Now, we have another decent product in the form of Ford Fusion and Ford Endeavour available in India. And everyone knows how good the Ford Mondeo is.
However, considering that Ford is one of the biggest automobile companies in the world, only three models in market as large as ours makes little sense. And ford has a reason to do so. The company has been going through a bad patch in the American market with competition from the Japanese market making it even tougher for them.
Now, Ford is looking at the Indian market with a fresh new look. They have already doubled the production capabilities here in India. Now they want a stable growth with a slew of new models destined for the Indian market. The first one of the lot is expected to be available here this year itself.
The company started in India way back in 1996 and led by the recent reduced excise duties and cheap loans have decided to become aggressive in their approach in dealing with local market. The new car planned for this year is being developed locally. However, the company has refused to divulge any details on it. We would be hoping to see a real competitive approach from the American auto giant in the coming days.
