Non-Apple based hardware won’t be able to run Mac OS X
When Apple announced plans to move onto Intel processors from IBM, it made big news. The company is expected to start the move sometime next year with complete transition aimed for 2007. In fact, Steve Jobs was using a Mac powered by an Intel processor at the event where he made this historic announcement.
This news might have led to some expectations in the PC users that they would soon be able to get access to running Apple Mac OS X on their machines. However, if the Apple representatives are to be believed, the company would be locking down the support for the impressive Operating System for only Apple approved hardware.
Apple vice president Phil Schiller has confirmed that the company has decided to not let users run Mac OS X on other computer makers’ hardware. They would however not stop Intel from making processors for Apple computers, which supports Windows Operating System. Apple would of course not support any such initiative.
The company stands to lose quite a lot if their Operating System can be run on Non Apple hardware. The company might be diversifying in a lot of fields (iPod and iTunes come to mind) but they still remain mostly a hardware driven company.

Huh? Then why such uproar about Apple shifting to INTEL, FINTEL, MINTEL? as far Apple is sticking to their own hardware news like “Apple’s move upsets Microsoft & Linux worried” sound so funny :O
