Seagate has 160 GB hard drive for Notebooks on offer
Seagate is in news for launching the first ever hard drive featuring the perpendicular recording technology, which lets the storage companies store more data on a similar sized media. This has enabled them to offer storage solutions for laptops, which can store as much as 160 GB of data. This capacity is quite impressive to be offered on notebooks. This would now help computer makers to offer products, which can easily replace the need for desktop computers for corporate users.
Market analysts have said that more storage companies should move onto this technology to develop the next generation storage solutions for computing requirements as the demand for such products increase. Seagate’s Momentus 5400.3 will be the first product available in such category for the laptops in the market.
Bill Watkins, Seagate president and CEO, said in a statement: “Seagate’s unique, unflagging ability to meet the demands of both the consumer electronics and traditional computing markets is why we are the industry’s leading seller of hard drives and why some of the biggest brands in the world partner with Seagate.â€
Hitachi had also announced plans to produce such disks and reportedly was testing the drives amongst their corporate clients. Fujitsu is another company involved in the development of such drives.
