Michael Jackson Suicide Rumors in Trojan Form
The King of Pop Michael Jackson somehow continues to remain in news. The latest news being related to a Trojan Horse being circulated around on the internet claiming that the famed singer attempted suicide. The news has been confirmed by the anti-virus firm Sophos which has notified that hackers are using this rumor to spread around a Trojan through mass email campaigns.
Michael Jackson is already involved in the famous child abuse trial and the people around the world are obviously amused by this personality in all the forms. The email reportedly comes with a subject line: “Re: Suicidal aattempt†and is poorly written with spelling and grammatical mistakes. It also includes a dead link to a supposed to be Suicide Note.
The mail content is somewhat like this: “Last night, while in his Neverland Ranch, Michael Jackson has made a suicidal attempt. They suggest this attempt follows the last claim was made against the king of pop. 46 years old Michael has left pre-suicid note which describes and interpretes some of his sins. Read more…”
The mail is aimed to infect the user’s computer with the Trojan Horse Troj/Borobt-Gen. It makes use of a vulnerability in Internet Explorer for which Microsoft has already issued an update. The link goes to a website, which tries to install malware on the user’s computer while showing a busy message on screen.
If the system is infected by the Trojan, it becomes part of a large network of similarly infected computers, which can later be used for mass mail campaigns or possibly DDoS attacks by the coders of this Trojan. The antivirus firm advices the users and the corporate network administrators to update their antivirus definition files and update their Windows Operating System with the latest patches from the software company.
