Sony Ericsson launches new mobile range
After Nokia, it is the competitor in Sony Ericsson, which is looking towards the low and medium end market segment with their latest products. The company today launched four new mobile handsets to take on the market leaders in the lower range segment. These new models are S600, Z520, J210, and K608i.
S600 would be targeted on the youth market while the Z520 comes in a clamshell-style. J210 is for users who like simplicity with routine functionalities like telephony and messaging. K608i is on the other hand an advanced third-generation, or 3G handset. Nokia on their part have also launched seven new models including one in the 3G segment today.
Sony Ericsson normally has been the choice of mobile handsets for the upper segment of the market. However, with cheap handsets from Asian developers becoming popular in the developing countries, it became important for them to target this particular segment as well. With Nokia selling a fifth of their phones at prices below 50 euros, it is this segment, which is expected to heat up in the coming days.
In other mobile news last week, BenQ overtook the mobile making unit of the German tech giants Siemens.

Sony Erickson Customer Care.
Sir,
I respect the brand name Sony-Erickson. Unfortunately I buy one K700i mobile on 4th April from Mumbai with warranty. 18th April it shows some malfunctions so I shown it to autherised service centre in mumbai- Axcel, Andheri(E). They promised me a replacement of handset. Yesterday(9th May) i got the replacement set. Believe me I was shocked when see that piece, the one was an old repaired one with even the key pad was rusted or erased, I complained about this , but they refuced to listen, so my humble request is that if you believe in costemer sastisfaction or product publicity please take action agaist these shops(I dont no how i show my helplessnes).
Thease shops realy decreasing the popularity of prestigeous products.

I must say I agree with Jithesh Kakkoth that Sony Ericsson has inferior phones and even worse coustomer service. I have had two Ericsson phones over the years and was very pleased with them. Then I purchased a Sony Ericesson T610 a couple of year ago and again had no trouble with it and when my son wanted a new mobile phone I recommended he buy a Sony Ericsson. To our regret he purchased a W800i on the 9th November 2005. After about 4 weeks it began to mis-fuction. It would lose its settings and turn its self off. To get it to work you had to take the battery out, and put it in again and then you could turn it on again. It was taken back to the shop we purchased it from and the man there told my son that he had to turn the phone off and on every day and this should fix the problem. (What rubbish!!!) My son tried doing this but the phone got worse and and eventurally wouldn’t work at all so he was told to take the phone to the repairer (Accord Customer Care Solutions (NSW) Pty Ltd). The first time it was returned to these useless people was on the 24th April 2006. After waiting week they rang him to tell him that they had fixed it and he could collect it. Which he did and on the 3rd of May the phone broke again and the screen went white and it didn’t work so he took it back to the above named repairers (if you could call them repairers) and this time they rang him and told him that Sony Ericsson would replace it. This made us happy because we were under the misbelief that we would get a new phone - one that worked. We had to wait almost a month before the replacement came through - but alas still no joy. It was replaced with an optus one and the one we had was a generic one which was connected to Telstra so the thing was useless. Once again my son truged across town to take it back to the same marvelous repairers. He also rang Sony Ericsson in Australia to complain but was told that there was nothing they could do and he would have to deal with the repair people. This was on the second of June 2006 They have replaced it with a marked second hand phone and guess what - It is now playing up again. On the 10th June ( he only received it back again on the 6th June) this now it is freezing, wont play the media files and you have to take the battery out and put it in again to get it to turn on. We certainly have not got very far in the past few months - still have a phone that does’t work and have made four trips to try and get the problem solved. All this trouble while my son is trying to run his own business that relies on heavily on his mobile phone. I recently had to replace mine and guess what i certaily did not buy a Sony Ericsson. It would be great to think that Sony Ericsson would put customer service before selling more phones and keep the existing customers happy.
Dear commentors,
Thank you for posting your comments here. I was planning to buy a Sony Ericson mobile phone and visited this webpage,to see if they have any blackberry phones. But after reading about their callousness in dealing with customers, and their terrible service standards, I think I better go for another brand. Any thoughts on whose services are great?
