Ex-PalmOne head to lead HP PC Division
Hewlett-Packard has decided to break away its Personal Computer division yet again to form a separate identity. They have named the former PalmOne Chief Executive Todd Bradley as executive vice president of this newly formed branch of their business. Bradley had served as the CEO and president of PalmOne for three years.
He would now be heading the branch managing the personal computers, laptops, PDAs, monitors and office workstations. The decision comes after sometime ago the company merged this division with the one managing the imaging and printing solutions. Vyomesh Joshi heads that group known as H-P’s imaging and printing group (IPG).
This is one of the first major decisions taken by the new CEO Mark Hurd. He took over from former chief Carly Fiorina a couple of months ago. Mark said in a statement released to the media: “By managing PSG and IPG as separate, highly focused organizations, we can further sharpen our competitiveness and improve our cost structuresâ€.
The company would have the recent purchase of IBM’s personal computer division by Chinese giant Lenovo in mind as they look forward to improve their position in this market.
