Google announces Chromebooks
Google Chrome OS loaded netbooks are finally announced.
The company has named them Chromebooks and they are expected to go on sale next month in the US market.
Google said that the 3G model of Chromebooks sold in the US market would include 100 MB per month of mobile data from Verizon Wireless.
They are claiming that the Chromebook devices would boot in around eight seconds and would bring you back exactly where you left your last session.
Adobe Flash Player and latest web standards are of course supported considering it is largely based on their Chrome web browser.
The company also highlighted the security aspect of the platform:
Chromebooks run the first consumer operating system designed from the ground up to defend against the ongoing threat of malware and viruses. They employ the principle of “defense in depth” to provide multiple layers of protection, including sandboxing, data encryption, and verified boot.
We cannot wait for Chromebooks to arrive in India!
