Sony launches second Walkman branded mobile phone W600
Sony Erickson would be further leveraging the walkman brand through their second mobile phone under the brand name of popular music device of the 80s. They call this model W600 and it is destined to be available in the retail market in the last quarter of the current year. It is a step down from the earlier released W800 phone as it comes with a swivel form factor and only 256MB of internal storage.
The company has not revealed any pricing information of this new launch but with a 1.3 mega pixel camera and support for EDGE technology, it is not expected to be priced cheap. This model also lacks a Memory Stick Duo slot for external memory. Sony is instead concentrating on mobile entertainment with 3D gaming.
W600 comes with a 176×220 pixel display that can be turned horizontal when playing games using the five-way navigation key and dedicated A/B gaming buttons. However, the selling point for this device is going to be the music playing capabilities. It features built-in stereo headset jack and FM radio comes with support for MP3 and AAC formats, and 30 hours of battery life when only in music mode.
President of Sony Ericsson in North America Urban Gillstrom said in a press release: “First imaging and gaming, and now adding music to your mobile phone is the wave of the future. With the W600, music lovers won’t miss important phone calls. When a call comes in the music player automatically stops and you receive important calls.â€

Sony Erickson are defrauding the public through the introduction of mobile phones with fancy names like walkman brand W600 or W800 that have memories of 256 MB or higher with the intention of getting the public to shell out money. The field is getting crowded. Bluetooth has already snached a fair size market and Korea Based NEC has announced the introduction of its NEC c606 Brand Mobile phone that is going to be marketed by HongKong Based Singapore Telecommunications.
The point is that there is no need for these Mobile Phones. The phone companies are happily giving away free phones to people willing to sign service contracts. These more advanced phones with memory features are not capable of performing any additional tasks that are needed by the public. Music lovers have IPod or cheaper version. A Korean company is enticing music lover with a unit that has a hard disk with 5GB memory. What for? IPOD can hold 5000 songs and people have CDS and always carry atleast 100 CDS.
The purpose of my writing these comments is to draw the attention of Sony or Erickson for the need of developing a different type of technology that will for ever change the way the Internet is browsed. The worldwide cellular phone service companies are rapidly
trying to acquire 2000MHz spectrums at a cost of hundreds of Billions of dollars after having spent 100’s of billions of dollars for acquiring the previous generation band with frequencies of 1900MHz. Cingular and Verizon are already acquiring spectrums after Spectrum They acquire from FCC directly and then they acquire from others who could not make use of their Spectrums like from New wave orfrom entities that were making recurring losses of 100’s of billions of dollars like from AT&T Wireless.
But inspite of the opening up of higher frequency spectrums and inspite of the FCC Taskforce, assigned with the task of promoting high speed Broadband spectrum based Internet Service and inspite of the Introduction of the very expensive Mobile phones the public must still make use of Wi-Fi hot spots that require a Laptop owner to have a so called Wireless card or an expensive 802.11 chip equipped laptops that cost atleast $3000.
If the phone makers are going to make a killing through the sales of their advanced Mobile Phones like Sony Ericksen Walkman W600 or W800 they must FINANCE my effort to develop a new browser that will change the client server roles. The new role of the client would be to send the Browsing data to Server through the use of mobile phones like Sony Ericksen W 600. The servers will then process the data and display the result.
When this is done people will no longer have to buy the laptops and, they will instead buy mobile phones like Sony Ericksen 600.
Sony Ericksen have spent 100’s of Billions of dollars for developing their mobile phones and Sony is incurring recurring costs of 100’s millions of dollars for thawarting the actions of Hackers.
If my technology is developed the Hackers would be out of Business. It’d be wiser for Sony to finance by work by supplying a start up capital of $5 Million through an outright donation. It would be a bargain for Sony. Ofcourse I need much more capital and I hope other mobile phone manufacturers would donate similar amounts.
