21% web users prefer online edition of newspapers more
We recently came to know about the research, which claimed that people are relying more than ever on the news sources available on the Internet. The latest study adds to that fact. A reported released by Internet audience measurement company Nielsen//NetRatings claims that almost a fifth of the web users prefer to read online versions of their newspapers rather than offline copies.
The study claimed that 21% have started to read the online version with the 72% of the users still relying on the print copy. The remaining 7% are still shuffling between both the versions. Nielsen//NetRatings senior media analyst Gerry Davidson said in a statement: “A significant percentage of newspaper readers have transferred their preference from print to online editions.â€
The newspaper companies in the United States have been continuously losing readership to the users who are moving onto news sources available on the web. This includes both the online versions of the newspapers or news aggregation sites like Google News and Yahoo! News. New York Times remains the most visited newspaper website on the Internet with an audience of more than 10 million last month.
