Indian Auto Industry is seeing a boost it has probably never seen. More auto companies are entering with their latest models. Even the good old Maruti has learnt their lessons well and have launched a brand new car in Maruti Suzuki Swift. Audi is ready to start its manufacturing plant and Renault is preparing to launch their cars.

It has never been so good. So much so, that international tire manufacturing giant Pirelli seems to have caught this trend as well. The Italian company is considering setting up a production plant in India to take advantage of the situation.

The company has started by setting up a liaison office in Delhi. This would be led by Pirelli executive Lorrenzo Arrigone who would study the potential of the market and setting up a plant either through a joint venture or alone. Their has been rumors in the past about a possible investment worth USD 500 million from the company. Though, it never made past the news stories.

Pirelli recently stepped into another hot market china and setup a joint venture worth €150 million. The company is currently importing its tires in the local market in India to meet up with the demand.
