Family Cars are safest in case of Accidents

Tests done by an industry safety group said on Sunday that large family cars are some of the safest ones in the auto industry. Their tests highlighted that cars like The Chrysler 300, Buick Lacrosse, and Kia Amanti were among five large “family” cars, which shone in the frontal crash tests.

The test was the first of its kind where every model in a group of large family vehicles recorded top scores in the 40-mph (64-kph) frontal crash tests. The other cars, which excelled in the test apart from these vehicles, were 2005 Ford five hundred and 2005 Toyota Avalon.

These cars were made to run into a deformable barrier and safety was gauged by measuring impact forces on a test dummy placed in the driver’s seat. Better ratings mean that there are fewer chances of injuries to the driver sitting inside the car.

Adrian Lund, the group’s CEO said in a statement about these tests: “Large cars are a good choice for consumers looking for a safe family vehicle but some of them haven’t always performed well in the institute’s frontal crash test”. The agency also rated Acura RL made by Honda, GM’s Cadillac STS and Toyota’s Lexus GS as some of the safest vehicles to be in on the roads.
